Cultivating Leaders

Meet Lori

Water Valley, Mississippi, native Lori Wilson has always worked hard to make life better for those around her. With the support of two scholarships, Wilson is pursuing a degree in exercise science and hopes to attend medical school, continuing her goal of helping others

I’m majoring in exercise science because it will be a good foundation for the nursing degree I hope to attain on my way to becoming a doctor.

I want to go into the medical profession because my goal has always been to help others.

Growing up in Water Valley, Mississippi, I saw a lot of things in my community and in my school just made me want to be the fixer. I realize I can’t fix everything, but I definitely try. I’m a perfectionist and try my best to help in any way I can.

“Just to know that I got the scholarship, I feel very heartened by it. I’m honored to carry on Joey Embry’s legacy. I always try to do my best here at Ole Miss. -Lori Wilson

That’s why I’m especially touched and grateful for the help I’m receiving through two scholarships I have at the University of Mississippi. I’m a Luckyday Scholar.

I was also honored to be the 2017 Joey Embry Scholarship recipient, created in memory of a UM football player. Just to know that I got the scholarship, I feel very heartened by it. I’m proud to carry on Joey Embry’s legacy. I always try to do my best here at Ole Miss. I’m grateful to receive the scholarship. I understand its gravity.
